Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Carpe Studia, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. Students of 13 and older may create their own account. Students under 16 may do so only with the approval of a parent or guardian, which they confirm when signing up. A parent or guardian may also create the account and agree to these terms on the student's behalf. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian is responsible for any paid plan on your family's account.

You are responsible for:

• Keeping your account credentials secure. If you sign in with Google, your account security depends on your Google account.
• All activity that occurs under your account, including actions taken by family members or advisors you invite.
• Providing accurate information about your student profile. Misrepresentation of academic records, test scores, or accomplishments is solely your responsibility.

You may invite family members and advisors to collaborate on your student's profile. You are responsible for managing who has access. Sign-in is by Google or a one-time email link; we do not issue passwords.

You agree not to:

• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or to violate any applicable laws.
• Attempt to access data belonging to other families or users.
• Upload malicious files, spam, or content that infringes on others' rights.
• Abuse the AI advisor by attempting to extract harmful content or bypass its guidelines.
• Create automated accounts or use bots to interact with the platform.
• Scrape, crawl, or use any automated means (scripts, bots, browser extensions, or similar tools) to extract, copy, or download school data, rankings, or any other content from the platform. All school information is licensed for personal use within the platform only.

Carpe Studia is an organizational and planning tool only. Use of this platform does not guarantee, imply, or increase the likelihood of admission to any school, program, or scholarship. Admissions decisions are made solely by the institutions themselves.

All information may be inaccurate. School data (deadlines, tuition, acceptance rates, requirements, rankings) is aggregated from public sources and AI-generated content. It may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong. You must independently verify all school information directly with the institutions before making any decisions.

AI-powered features (advisor chat, profile analysis, suggestions, impact scores) are powered by Anthropic's Claude and are for informational purposes only. AI responses may contain inaccuracies and do not constitute professional admissions consulting, educational counseling, or any other professional advice. You should consult qualified professionals for important admissions decisions.

Your content: You retain ownership of all data you enter into the platform (student profiles, activities, comments, files). You grant us a limited license to store and process this data to provide the service.

Our content: The Carpe Studia name, logo, interface design, and underlying code are our property. School data comes from public sources (the US College Scorecard, schools' own Common Data Sets, official school websites and published rankings) and is provided as-is.

Carpe Studia is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This is not a mission-critical system. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

• Admissions decisions or outcomes influenced by information on the platform. No placement at any school is ever guaranteed or implied.
• Loss of data. While we maintain daily backups and reasonable safeguards, your data could be lost due to technical failures, service disruptions, or other unforeseen events. We provide a data export feature so you can download your own information, and we recommend using it regularly to keep your own copies of any critical information.
• Inaccuracies, errors, or omissions in school data, deadline information, AI-generated advice, or any other content on the platform.
• Temporary or permanent unavailability of the platform or any of its features, including service interruptions, outages, or discontinuation.

Subscription fees cover the cost of operating the platform (infrastructure, AI API costs, data sources, development) and do not constitute a guarantee of service availability, data accuracy, or admissions outcomes. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid in subscription fees during the 12 months preceding the claim.

You may stop using Carpe Studia at any time. You can delete your account, or a parent the whole family account, in Settings.

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms. We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify active users.
